Who are we?
Fernwood Community Church is a congregation plant of Newark Evangelical Church, at the moment we are two congregations of the same church. But our vision is eventually to plant an independent church in Fernwood.
When & where do we meet?
Before the Pandemic we were meeting in Fernwood Village Hall which is a lovely facility and our hosts have been very gracious. Right next to the hall is a large, free car park which is really convenient if you are travelling a little way or if the weather is bad. We hope to be able to start meeting again face to face, once it is possible to do so, but for the time being we are meeting on Zoom, contact us if you would like to join in. We also join with Newark Evangelical Church on a Sunday evening (on Zoom or at their Pelham Street building in a Covid-secure service).
We are a friendly, welcoming bunch and we would love to see you sometime.
What do we believe?
We accept only the Bible as authoritative in matters of faith and conduct. However, acknowledging that the Bible is a large book, and that its teaching on many subjects is spread across many of its parts, we recognise that it can be convenient to adopt a summary statement of what we believe the Bible teaches on a range of vital themes. It is in those terms that we adhere to the statement of faith of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches. (A similar document is published by the UK Evangelical Alliance, with which we are also in agreement).
You can read more about this in the Newark Evangelical Church Statement of Faith.
